Lightbox - how to keep controls from disappearing

The controls on the lightbox screen disappear in about 2 seconds, reappear on any mouse activity. But if someone uses the arrow keys to navigate, the controls stay invisible forever. Easy for a novice user to not realize there are "other sizes" and "download" options.

Any way to make the lightbox controls persistent?
