Footer/different page showing before page displays when switching pages

Maybe this should be a feature request or a Bug report...

I see this on multiple people's sites in New SM. When switching between Galleries (probably others, too), say, to Homepage, the footer is being displayed before the main page. Then the page writes to screen and the footer is where it ought to be. Seems programming wise, the footer should not be introduced until AFTER the main screen displays. This looks distracting and looks like an error on the users sites. Or it may show up as a fast flicker.

On my PREVIEW site, I sometimes when selecting a Menu item, I get a flash of some other screen I have been on (not the previous screen) before it writes the page I am suppose to see. I really noticed this when the "flash" was a screen showing a page of an unlisted gallery that shows the "unlisted" on the new "thumb" which is now just a smaller image. Of course I am in Preview mode, not live, so I do not know if this happens in live mode or when logged out. Anyone else report these two issues? Perhaps I should have broken these into two different threads. I combined them because they both happen when switching between pages. I may have overlooked these if already posted somewhere - if so, my bad - please point me and I will delete this post.

If it makes a difference, I see this using Mac/Chrome.

EDIT: Here is a video (on my legacy site) of the second problem (and it STILL is showing my UNLISTED gallery!!!!):

You will see unlisted galleries when you are logged in to your site. They do not show when you are not logged in. I'm not aware of any way to see your site in preview without being logged in.

Denise, thanks for replying, but you missed the point. When I switch between menu items, I get a one or two second printing of the unlisted gallery on screen. See the video I posted in my OP comment which is located in my legacy site. You will see the issue very plainly! I have some unlisted galleries that the public must not know exist for various reasons due to the nature of the photography I do for various organizations. If this was to show up in the real world, I would lose all credibility and never be asked to photograph for them again. Also I could be sued and have other legal problems. There would be real world ramifications if these got out. Right now, I get to shoot things that no one else is allowed to shoot. This is a killer for me in unveiling (among other things). Thankfully, this particular "unlisted" gallery is not as sensitive as some that I have. Still, the knowledge that this gallery exists could cause many problems for many people. Thanks again for replying!

EDIT: And I am getting pretty ticked off that I have heard nothing from the SM organization.

    Hhheeelllooooooooo?
Not getting any correct response here. I, MYSELF, have just figured out what is happening with the unlisted gallery showing as stated above. It is the same basic problem of the footer showing BEFORE the upper areas. In my Preview mode Galleries Page, I have ONE "standalone" gallery. The rest are folders with multiple galleries. It just happens that the "unlisted" gallery is actually a screen print image gallery I put up to help SmugMug solve a problem. So, what is happening is SmugMug is sending to screen the "single" galleries FIRST and then sending the Folders SECOND which then pushes the single gallery down. This is a BUG in programming - same for the footer printing first. This just totally looks stupid and needs to be fixed now. If it makes a difference, this is happening in the SmugMug Theme, which you would think SmugMug would have worked the theme to perfection. I cannot believe no one else is seeing this issue.

PLEASE RESPOND. I have identified the problem for you, but "I" cannot fix it myself.

I get weird instances like this too. I see my site name in the middle of the screen for an instant before the Home Page comes in.
Sometimes when I do a keyword search like "Popular" it goes to the Browse page instead which shows several unlisted galleries.
I have to hit refresh several times to get the correct keyword search. I'm not sure if I was logged in or not when this happens.

And then there are the log in problems.

    Cheers,

As Denise said, you are logged in, so i am not surprised you are seeing an unlisted gallery. This should not happen once you unveil.

Also, if you put the Help Gallery in the Other Folder, You, even as the owner, won't see this.

OK I'm off topic here but if these galleries are so sensitive is "unlisted" the best choice? I thought unlisted simply meant that search engines & smugmug wont show the url but the url still exists & anyone who has it can access the gallery?

I am beginning to understand the problem better now for my case. The coding display order is out of wack. It displays things from further down the page then goes back and displays the upper area next which seems to push the lower things down. On the "galleries" page in SmugMug Theme the single galleries display first, then the folders display pushing down the single galleries. Same thing with the footer displaying first, then the rest of the page displays pushing the footer down. Why on earth would a footer be programmed to display first and towards the top of the screen? This give the appearance that something is broken. I believe it is poor programming until it can be explained why it HAS to be this way.

It was my mistake about it showing an unlisted gallery. It is showing a single gallery first that later displays under my folders. It happens to be a galley that has a screen print image of an unlisted gallery that I am using to point SmugMug to for help. There are several images in that gallery. The system happened to choose that image as the featured image for that single gallery. I can fix that. I can't fix the order that single galleries and folders are displayed.

Mbonocore, Has this not been brought to the attention of the developers/coders? And if it has, can it be stated in this thread that they are aware of the issue? Right now, I cannot tell if they are aware. These issues make the website look buggy. You are right, I should move the Help Gallery to the Other Folder. Don't know why I did it like that. BUT, there is a thread where I pointed to that gallery with an url - so if I move it, the url will be broken. I need to find that thread... Since I am not unveiled, I am not so worried about it.

I obviously am concerned about the display order of things if myself and others ever had a single gallery or more on the main page, the problem with display order would be there.

Quickie question - if a gallery is made "Private", can the url still be given out to those you want to give access? If not, then unlisted is what they have to be because certain people need access but not the public (answering Guy's question). I suppose I should password protect the galleries, too. I could also upload a blank or totally black image and use it as a feature image to help insure even more security. Something for me to think about!

If it is "so sensitive" and only you want to view it then set it to "private". No one can see it even with a
direct link or any of it's content shared including using photos for thumbs images anywhere.

If you want others to see it put a password on the gallery, set it to unlisted and provide them the link. I'd change
the PW every so often because it might get around, "loose lips".

Agreed if the ramifications of unwanted people seeing these photos are as dire as you describe then they really do need to be password protected.

Simply being unlisted offers no security, remember that once the people you do want to see the photos have looked at them, that url is then in their browser history & possibly their bookmarks file. Also if you are just sending them the hidden url in an e mail it's sitting on lots of mail servers too ;^)..

All good advice! Thanks all! Yeah, I do need to send the url out through email. So, changing passwords would be the thing to do. Now I will have to nake a tracking system to remember passwords since SM made them unreadable to even the owner......grrrrrrr.
