Different sharing options on galleries and pages

I created a page to display a single gallery, and that works fine. However, when the user clicks on an image in the gallery on the page, and goes to the lightbox, the share button options are limited to email:
However, when viewed from within the gallery itself (not the page), a full range of share options is available from the light box:
Why the difference?
Perhaps I'm not really clear about the purpose of pages except that they seem to give me more control over what my client sees. However I'd also like control over those share options.
