Difference between Folders and Galleries?

Have watched two videos (the one for new people and the one for people transitioning). Also searched this site and got tons of search results but not the answer I am looking for.

What is the difference between a folder and a gallery?

Also, how do I initiate the transition for my old site to the new one. the transition video talked about what you see and can do when you start but cannot find the button to click on the start the process.

Folders are used to organize your site, similar to categories and subcategories on the old smug - but different in that you can have more levels.

• A gallery contains photos.
• A folder contains galleries, pages, and other folders.
