Only display galleries or one photo from each gallery on map block

Is it possible (work around) or are there plans to enable general GPS location data to be associated with a gallery and then have only galleries show up on a world map. It would be a neat to have the world map with just gallery pins (or a pin for a single photo for each gallery) that a visitor can click to see all the pictures in that gallery associated with the location.
