This orb weaver was sat on a privet leaf. Quite an usual place for it to be I think as they're normally upside down in a web. I plucked the small stalk the leaves were on where the spider decided to work its way around to the underside of the leaves which suited me as they're more of a matt colour as opposed to glossy. I think it posed quite well.
A slight adjustment of position (amazing how the light can change so much)
I also photographed these two Helophilus hovers contributing towards keeping the hoverfly population going. Think I perhaps went a bit too far with the old "bug on the finger" thing! (3rd image down) .
Must admit, I seemed to struggle a little with the light here and have caused a bit of banding pulling some shadows back in. pff!

I must admit, didn't think they'd climb on but the female seemed happy to and of course the male had no choice. they stayed for a good 20 seconds or so then with what appeared to be quite a fair bit of effort, flew back onto a privet leaf.
