Top of homepage single photo UNDER transparent header ?

Currently on my homepage I use a "background photo", as you can see, the top of this photo is under my transparent header, perfect for me.

Now, I do not find a way to get the same result using a "single photo" (vs "background photo").
Indeed the top of a "single photo" hits the bottom of my header while I would like to see it UNDER the transparent header as currently.

ps : the problem being that a "background photo" does not resize properly while a "single photo" does.
