Folder sharing

Hi... I ran into what is, I think, a counter-intuitive thing in the new SmugMug, but maybe it is just me not processing it the right way.
There are some galleries I created, belonging to a specific project (let's call it Production 1).
I want to share these galleries with my co-workers, but don't want them to be public.
So
  1. I created a folder named PRODUCTION 1 and moved all the galleries associated with it in the folder.
  2. I went into the settings to the FOLDER and marked them as UNLISTED with a PASSWORD.
  3. I chose all the galleries belonging to the folder and marked the privacy setting as INHERITED.
  4. Then I copied the URL address of the folder and bookmarked it.

I logged out and went to the folder URL's address.
I entered the password, as prompted.
But I can't see any of the galleries.

Obviously, what I want is, for the galleries belonging to the folder and inheriting its security settings, to be visible.

Is that feasible?

Unlisted galleries can only be reached with a direct link, they will not show in any folder to visitors.

AFAIK you connot directly copy the URL

instead ; use : share/ get a link and copy that
    that should work

Too bad. I failed to understand the usefulness of shared folders, if their galleries can't be accessed!

Pretty much the same issue I have run in to a brick wall with (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=240626). Seems that SmugMug was not designed with general 'personal' use in mind where you might not want your general snapshots on public display but still easy to organize and publish for family and friends. You have three choices that I can see:

Have the folder visible to the world, but password protected or user account protected. Not a good solution for me, I tried this a long time ago on my own hosted site and got nothing but complaints about it being 'too hard' or that aunt Bertha can't remember the password.

Use a 'sharegroup' that you have to manually maintain the list of galleries for and that can't have nested unlisted folders in. You also can't customize the way the sharegroup page looks (and it doesn't look like the rest of your site). The site breadcrumbs also just take you back to the unlisted folders that are empty to everyone but you so normal navigation is broken. This is what I have been using as a workaround to the unlisted folder issue, and so far it is just a total pain and doesn't really work the way I need it to. A sharegroup in the new SmugMug is just a flat list of galleries with square thumbnails and truncated descriptions.

Just put your personal stuff out in the open, even if it is in no way related to the work you actually want to publish on SmugMug or full of lower snapshot quality stuff that is there just so aunt Bertha can check up on how your kids are doing or of any privacy concerns you might have.

Have to eat my words from that last post. It is possible to get SmugMug to work like I wanted, the defaults just fight that configuration. Check the post I linked above for more info.

Give me until tomorrow (later today) to see if I can dig up more information about this.

    Thanks!

    OK. thanks.
I'll look into it this week-end.
I want it to work, I really like the new SmugMug and I think my workflow must resemble the workflow of many other people.

I think what you need to do is to set the FOLDER to public, but give it a password. Then send the link and the password to the people you want to see the galleries and once they enter the folder they will see everything as you wanted. No one else could see the contents without the password for the parent folder. Check the bottom left of my site and click on FAMILY - I have tons of galleries in there, but without a password, no one can see them.

Unlisting the folder makes all the contents unlisted as well, so even though your guests have a link to the folder, the contents remain unlisted.
