Keyword 30 limit per image (new vs. old)

In Legacy SmugMug, if I had more than 30 keywords, it would show the last indexed and I could move the more important keywords up to the top.

Now, however, it seems the New SmugMug has actually deleted all keywords after first 30. What is up with that?

I did not see a warning for this. If that was the case I would've taken the time to rearrange my keywords before unveiling. *sigh* This is way more work than I signed up for.
Thank you,

DaniLew

Oh NO!! That is really terrible. :twitch I had just posted (#4 post in this thread): http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=240655 that if they work on the title/caption / keyword editing box in New Smug, they please find a way to show people when the 30-word limit had been reached (and to have a keyword counter). And my complaint was that in Legacy, we didn't have a way to see the limit. A lot of people don't even know the limit is 30. That keyword field is so broken in legacy right now, and I don't currently see a way to know when you're over 30 keywords. I mean, I think you have to see the "indexing" thing right away, and you can't always do that. But maybe you've found a better way. If so, I'd love to understand it better!

I don't even see why the limit is 30 either. I wish it were 50, as that's so often the standard in stock photography. Therefore many of my files are already keyworded for 50, and early on, I wasn't aware how important it was to place the most critical ones first. (and that doesn't even work everywhere, because some sites alphabetize them right away. But anyway, gosh... what a mess that New SmugMug actually dumps them when you get over 30! I haven't migrated yet, thank goodness, but this had better get fixed before I do or I'll have yet another mess on my hands! I really feel for you, having to do all that work over again. :cry It's odd that this is the first post I've seen about this exact problem. It makes me wonder if it started recently.

    Thanks WinsomeWorks.

It seems to have only affected the latest images posted in Legacy SmugMug but after the New SmugMug was released on July 30th. I'm going through them all now but thank Goodness I don't have thousands of images to display!
    Thank you,

Oh my! I hope you don't have to fix all those images.

Well, I just moved from Photoshelter to SmugMug in April and this is not what I was expecting.

I'm still cleaning up the keywords... it now seems like random acts of deletion.
    Thank you,

Well I figured out that I do not have anywhere close to the 30 limit, so, I won't have to do anything. But I know there are those that use at least 50 for the "industry standard" for many reasons. So, how could SM decide that 30 was better than 50?

That's very good news, southeasternphotography! And yes, I wonder why they limited it to 30 as well. I read the article in which they explained their spam concerns but I still think 50 is a good solid number and as you say it is the standard limit.
    Thank you,
