While it's not ready for a prime time, I very much like the ideas they invented. One of them being putting the sensor elements where the proper cosine waves at different frequencies reach their pertinent maximums instead of regular rectangular or hexagonal grid. This way thay managed to dramatically simplifyi DCT (discrete cosine transformation) algorithm , which is purely ingenious! Calculating chip avoids the penalty of multiplication and is left with additions only, the latter taking way less time and less energy.

Finally looks like some major changes, not just a megapixel race!:clap

Some of the low power work is starting to look pretty interesting. As are the
various changes in material used in chip making.

Most of these improvements are years from comercial usage but interesting
    none the less.
