PLEASE make the breadcrumbs show the WHOLE trail. This really is crazy. Whose idea was it to remove the preceding breadcrumb so you can't go back one up crumb????? Ok, don't answer that, just fix it. Or tell us it is in the bucket list. Thanks.:huh

I'm pretty sure that somewhere on the new SM there is a checkbox option to show the whole breadcrumb string. God knows where I stumbled across it though!

Yes there is a setting when you define the breadcrumb content block to tell it to show the "full" breadcrumb. This mostly works...or at least it shows your folder structure. It doesn't handles "pages" very well, but that's a separate issue. Go to your breadcrumb content block in the customizer and use the wrench to explore the settings.

Troup, if you have this setting turned on for your breadcrumbs, it might help the heroes if you post an example/screen shot of an incomplete breadcrumb.

Yep, I have the Full Breadcrumbs turned to On for both Folders and Galleries. In the following example, you can only go back as far as Journalism. The only thing in front of that is the House for homepage. There should be a "Galleries" or "Browse" between House and Journalism.

Perhaps this is the way I created the "Galleries" page. Somehow early on, I figured out how to create a page with BROWSE. It showed all my top Folders which is what I wanted to do. For another issue I have (forget what it is at the moment), it was suggested I create a new page, call it "Galleries", and add a Folders content to it to show those top folders. Perhaps that would make my crumbs work. Maybe the BROWSE page is being treated differently and is not considered a breadcrumb - which would be strange but maybe true.

EDIT: Ok, I created a PAGE called Galleries2. I put in a Folder Content block. I told it to show Top Folders. I changed my Menu item "Galleries" to point to this specific page (not BROWSE). At top level, breadcrumb shows "House - Galleries2". I enter a Folder called "History". Breadcrumb changes to "House - History" not "House - Galleries2 - History". Not making another screen shot because it would look exactly the same. So that did not work. I really can't explain it any better than this.

So, I have a page that pointed to BROWSE and a page pointing to a "real" Folders page that used Top Folders. Neither show the Full Breadcrumb.

EDIT2: My mistake. The "BROWSE" page I stated above is not a page. I see that I simply had the Galleries Menu item url set to BROWSE which is an option. Still, if you begin at that Browse page, it should be part of the breadcrumb trail.

You explained the problem I suspected you were having, which is that the "browse" page (or whatever anyone has renamed it to) is missing from the breadcrumb. I think I posted this in your other thread, as did Denise, that "pages" seem to disappear from the breadcrumb once you move off the page. In addition to the "browse" page disappearing from the breadcrumb, other pages do this as well.

For example, I've got a "page" called Timeline where I've got a link to some galleries. When I go to the Timeline page, the breadcrumb shows what I expect, which is Home -> Timeline.

If I click on one of the galleries on that page, instead of showing:
Home -> Timeline -> Gallery Name

    I get:

Home --> Trips --> Hiking --> Gallery Name (which is the path through my folder structure).

So the breadcrumb is really a path through your folder structure.

I could live with the issue where other pages don't carry the full breadcrumb through, but I agree that the built-in "browse" page ought to be included there. There isn't a way to use the breadcrumb to get all the way back to your starting place.

So SmugMug - are y'all looking into fixing this? This is not a feature request. Glad my GPS breadcrumb trail doesn't work this way!!!

I suspect this is working as designed.

There is a feature request logged (here) to have the breadcrumb include the browse page.

Thanks Denise (I missed that request)! I added a comment at that page. Hansel and Gretel would have been in a whole lot of trouble if their breadcrumbs worked like this. Oh yeah, they DID get in a whole lot of trouble!
