Hi all,

Am having issues uploading video via the smugmug plug-in (2.0.3.5) in lightroom 5.

Anyone know of any settings i might need to adjust or issues with the current versions? There are no error messages that i can see other than "Some Export operations were not performed" followed by "upload failed (2)" and the two .mov files that didn't upload. The video's remain listed as "New Photo's to publish"

i think the files are ok, they are .mov files, under the size limit (only 10Mb) and i can upload them via the HTML5 uploader without issues.

Any ideas?

    Hey McBain,

Can you please check what you currently have the "Video Format" set to in the Video section of the Publish Manager ? If it's set to "H.264", can you please change it to "Original" and retry uploading ?

    Thanks,

    David

Thanks David, that appears to have fixed it!

    Much appreciated.

I believe there's a problem with that. If you set LR's export to Original, it exports the original video - without any of your edits. That kind of defeats the purpose.

The only edits you can do in LR currently is trimming.

No, that is not correct. You can also adjust color balance, contrast, and luminosity. You can apply presets. The adjustments you can apply are considerably more than just trimming.

However, even if trimming were the only adjustment that could be made, this would be a bug and a problem. Besides, doesn't SM convert all videos to H.264 after uploading? I would think that doing the conversion on client machines prior to uploading would reduce the load on SM's servers, and would be preferable.

Just as a followup to this thread if people find it in future...

McBain sent me his video that wouldn't upload.
The original video is a 320x240 MOV file. The problem is that LR doesn't have presets for every type of video format, resolution and orientation. As a result when using the video format 'H.264', the rendered MP4 video is 320x216, which is smaller than our minimum video size of 320x240.

I'm going to attempt to see if there is some way to predetermine if the rendered video is going to be too small.

It's that s typo? You said that the original video was 320x240, Smugmug's minimum size, and that using H.264 compression reduced its vertical size by an order of magnitude. Compression doesn't do that.

it's not a typo...take a look at my screenshot. This is "what" Adobe does...nothing to do with the plugin per se.

Ah - thanks for pointing out the screen shot. I guess the 3 in 321 was implied.
