From the hanging wall, inspired by Matt

I shot this coming out of the mountains after shooting the Perseids. I don't think it's a great shot, but I felt compelled to stop and take it because I'm trying to put together a series of 'iconic' shots of L.A. (although I don't think that's quite the right word).

I didn't do anything with it though, until Matt's shots inspired me to at least try to pull what interest I could out of the shot. Downtown would be on the left, if you could see it, poking out of a very thick and persistant marine layer. I swear it's not smog!.

This, more than the light pollution, is why I had to go *up* to see the Perseids.

That little dark spec in the middle of clouds is what is preventing it from being an automatic delete. I love Mountains! Always worth the effort.

There's also this one, but it's a little bit too much processing for my usual tastes, I'll admit it shows the clouds though.

Looks sharper, with more contrast, and much better than the first one. Doesn't look unnatural. Can almost see the horizon now.....almost. Try cropping....the extra bright area from bottom right corner can be gotten rid off....as well as the electricity towers, and road and the clouds along with the hills in bottom should jump out.....might be worth it
