Another Custom Domain Question

Obviously, I am misinterpreting something about implementing the use of an already owned domain name.
This is the documentation I was working from:
1. Point your CNAME 'www' to domains.smugmug.com .
2. Point your A Record '@' to 208.79.45.23 .
3. Visit your SmugMug Account Settings > Me > Account tab for the "Custom Domain" line. Paste your new domain name into the box and click "Save Changes." That's it!
Following it, as I understand it, this is what it looks like on GoDaddy's end after the changes:

When I attempt to enter the domain name, I get this error message:
"That hostname doesn't appear to be valid. Your hostname needs to be setup using a CNAME record at your domain registrar"
I have tried entering it every way I can think of: name.net, www.name.net, http://name.net and http://www.name.net all with same result.
What I am doing wrong is undoubtedly something simple, probably something obvious, but I am going in circles. Any help would be appreciated.
