Keywords driving me crazy

Hi,
I have an issue with the keywords.
I tag the pics with Picasa and upload them to SmugMug.

On my homepage (when I am logged in) it works. The keywords are shown at the bottom of the pics.
I can select and combine keywords and it shows me the correct images.

If I want to share the gallery it becomes weird. The gallery is password protected. If a guest access the gallery and knows the password all pics are shown incl the keywords at the bottom of the pics. But then if you press on a keyword and get to the keyword page no picture is shown. The keyword cloud is also empty.

I tried so many different settings no succes. The SmugMug support didn't reply to me. Although I am premium.

Please help.

Thank you
Ron

As far as I know keywords are not shown in password-protected galleries to anyone but the site owner. From the help page at http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/93291:
Gotchas: Only you, as the account owner, will be able to search for any keywords from unlisted or password-protected galleries.
There is a request for this in the feature request forum - Allow Keywords To Be Displayed In Password Protected Galleries.

    Thank you.
    - But why are the keywords shown at the bottom of the pics?
    - I changed my homepage now to complete public. And the keyword still do not work for visitor.

Honestly, this would be reason to leave smugmug. It is not comprehensible why such a feature is not available for "guest". And of course I want to protect my galleries with a password. Especially for guest keywords are a key to navigate through the pictures. As the owner I dont need it, as i know my galleries very well.

If I were to guess I would say that when a guest logs into a gallery then SmugMug knows that they are allowed to see the keywords for that gallery and hence shows them. Once you click on a keyword you are jumping out of the gallery onto the keyword search page where the password no longer applies and hence the image can't be shown. For what you want to work keyword search would need to have a separate index for each guest password or recalculate indexes on the fly which isn't likely to happen.

I changed my homepage now to complete public. And the keyword still do not work for visitor.

I think it makes no difference because the galleries are still password protected so the above still applies :(

It does look like a real problem for you though and I can't think of any obvious solution (and I imagine other photo sites would have exactly the same issues). If you have only one password you might just be able to give out the assistant password (although this is unlikely). Alternatively if you only had a small number of different keywords you might be able to make smart galleries for each and create links to them? (can't guarantee that would work but it sounds possible).

Good luck. It sounds like something very useful to have really

Can you please provide a link to your site? This will help me take a look to better understand your needs.

    - I only have a homepage password. No gallery password.
    - I removed the homepage password. After 1 hours of waiting, the keyword function perfectly words.

Now I set again a password for the homepage:
    - At the beginning the keyword function still fully worked.
    - After 20 minutes the keyword function stopped working.

    Please look at:

Again, the password for the homepage is must have.

Hopefully we find a solution, that homepage password + keywords works...

    Best and thank you,
    Ron
