Aperture & Lightroom 5?

I like the new Smugmug format but two big quirks with my Macbook Pro.

In Aperture, before downloading photos to Smugmug, I have to convert files to JPEG. Never had to do that before. I figured out how to process one photo at a time, very slow and time consuming.

In Lightroom 5, the Adobe Plugin to allow near automatic downloading in previous versions no longer works. Dead in the water.

So not sure the good outweighs the bad until these two bugs are fixed.

    John,

What's your SmugMug account, I was hoping to look up what LR plugin version you are currently using.

Are you saying that the automatic update feature says there is a new update, but installing the update fails ? If so, can you please check whether the plugin or folder it's contained in isn't set to read-only. This is a common reason why the update might fail.

    Cheers,

Didn't work. I used to able to use this method. I now get this message:

The plug-in “ApertureToSmugMug” is not compatible with this version of Aperture.

PErhaps the subtle difference is yours says "smuginprofor aperture" although I have a pro account.

    Thanks, David.

The feature worked with LR 3.

In LR 4 & 5, Adobe instructs you in "Publish Services" to download latest Plug-in version called "SmugMug.lrplugin" which I did. Yet the message in publish services still says, "Smugmug (Click to Download)"

I am not sure where to find whether or not the plugin is set to read-only.

Thanks, Dave - I found NZWidgets site and purchased the new version. All is well now with Aperture.

    Hey John,

So with LR3, we were officially shipped with LR. Which was good for exposure for us but not so good for continued development of the plugin as we could only ship bug fixes between major LR releases.

Therefore from LR4 we were no longer bundle, so you need to install the plugin manually. You can grab the latest plugin from here.

    Cheers,
