Why does this image look crisp when viewed on my site and on my computer and when printed as a 20x30... but looks like poop when selected as a page background?

Where do you have that image shown as a background? Also are you limiting the maximum size of the image in your gallery?

I'll have to get an un-watermarked image if I keep it...

I checked in firefox and chrome and I don't see any issue withe the image here. Although from my end I would suggest adding it to the top center. On my setup for firefox at least, it is a square browser window and the image looks a bit of in that type of view. To me at least.

I tried it top center but it shows too much sky and losses the shore line.

So no idea why so blurry as a background image?

I can view it on PS at 100% and it is clear as can be... ne_nau.gif

I reloaded a new unwatermarked version and tried it... much better...

You have the gallery that image is displayed in limited to a maximum display size of Large. That is limiting what size is able to be displayed with it as a background image.
