I got to revisit one of my favorite points on the North Rim last weekend. Here are some of my favorites.

Fantastic shots, you were lucky with some great light. I was there the second week in September and had fog and rain for most of my 1.5 days there.

Thanks Bryan, The next night we stayed at Marble view. We had super high winds and the valley views were total haze. Luck of the draw. :-)

Some great views of one of my favorite places.. I was there a couple of months ago and the forest fires left a hazy sky most of the time...

I'll be at the South Rim next month..

Thanks Ritewinger, Larry and Marcelo. I was glad to see at least few clouds slide in and the canyon was less hazy than my past visits. Not so much on my next night on Marble View. Crazy high winds and what would have been amazing wide views over the plateau and the Vermillion cliffs was totally lost in thick haze.

Oh well, sometime the timing works out and sometimes it doesn't. :D

Very nice. I was planning a trip to the North Rim and Zion over an extended weekend this weekend. If I was on schedule, I would have been at Point Sublime today, however with the closures I have had to make other plans. Glad you were able to make it and get some wonderful shots.

    I didn't say this but....

If you come in on Forest Road 22 North of the National Park the back roads are open with no gates all the way down to point Sublime. Since all the park rangers of off duty, there is nobody to tell you are not supposed to be there.

    I didn't say this. ne_nau.gif

Thank you for the info. I am aware of the "back way" in and have used it, but Point Sublime was only one stop. I figured I might get away with some of the remote areas, but not all. Toroweap has the ranger station right along the way in and Zion is locked down. Besides I have a friend that just came out before the closures and said there were many tree falls across the trail even after the junction. With the closures they will not be cleared, so I would have had to do a lot of cutting to get in. My friend was on a motorcycle, so he was able to ride around the ones he could not get over. I guess I will have to make do with your photos. Thanks for sharing.
