Beginner: Some basic questions to help me get started

Brand new to SM and dGrin. Have a Pro account, converted to new SM, and have explored SM to get comfortable with navigation, etc. Have good skills with SM-type sites (e.g. WordPress) and have coded HTML, CSS, etc.

Have some basic technique questions to help accelerate learning.

Want to have my homepage display some of my better photos. I understand I could do that by creating a gallery containing those shots, but can I also do that in other ways? For example, can I choose a special tag (e.g. "best") and then have the homepage display only photos with that tag? Are there other techniques?

You could create a smart gallery or a gallery that collects photos from other galleries.
