smugmug and godaddy

just to give me a break from trying to solve other issues i have a question.

i have duelinglenses.com registered with godaddy and have set smugmug to duelinglenses.com

now if i need to have some areas not related to smugmug, can i create html pages on godaddy and what would happen if me being me (ie stupid) named one of the pages the same as one of the smugmug page ?

any answers would be insightful

right back to trying to solve my others.

If I'm reading this correctly, you can't create a file/folder/page outside of Smugmug using GoDaddy. The only way to do something like that is to create a sub-domain, like 'your-sub-domain-name-here.duelinglenses.com'.

Just to add... My main website is 'www.imagesinthebackcountry.com', but I created a sub-domain, 'mike.imagesinthebackcountry.com' for my Smugmug site.

what i was thinking was if godaddy host duelinglenses.com and i build a website and i have smugmug account which is duelinglensesphotography.com, can i not use custom domain name section to change it to duelinglenses.com so thats what comes up in address bar etc

or maybe i'm not explaining myself properly (I'm a bit punch drunk from solving another prob )

No, that's not possible. A particular domain name can only point to one server (either godaddy or smugmug), so you can't have www.duelinglenses.com show some mixture of GoDaddy and SmugMug pages. You need to use two different domain names (e.g. www.duelinglenses.com and site.duelinglenses.com).

er ok,

so if I need my email address to be brett@duelinglenses.com instead or as well as brett@duelinglensesphotography.com who or how do i do it, through smugmug or godaddy ?

Email is actually a separate system, SmugMug being the website on that domain doesn't affect the email settings for the same domain name. So for either of those domains you need to set that up with godaddy.
