Navbar doesn't show on home page but it's on the entire site

Is the Navbar supposed to show on the home page if it's on the entire site?
It doesn't....
Yet if I go into a folder, the navbar is properly there, and I hadn't added a navbar to the folders section.

Go to your settings and check that Independent Homepage is off.

Thanks Denise, that was it. I thought that referred to whether I had a custom domain.
What do I lose, or what restrictions are imposed, by turning that off?

With Independent Hompage set on, your homepage doesn't inherit the entire site settings. With it off it does.

Based on your question you weren't happy with the homepage not showing your header. If that's the case leave the independent homepage setting off.
