Multiple SmugMug publish services in one Catalog?

Hi There,
I am running into a challenge with my SmugMug publish Service in Lightroom 4.

First everything is operating as it should, I am uploading blog images to an unpublished gallery on my site to be posted to various blogs like Tumblr. However when I post my images on other sites the quality is much lower and looks pretty bad.

I want to be able to display the original image size for images in this gallery only. I understand that my gallery settings are likely affecting the display quality but even on 2xl its just not enough and original is not an option in this gallery.

In Lightroom I have my SmugMug Publish file settings at JPG, 90. Image Sizing at "Resize to fit Megapixel 100.00 don't enlarge, resolution 240. Which works for most galleries. I am wondering, can I, should I, set up another SmugMug Publish service in the SAME catalog to only publish alternative settings for this one particular gallery?:scratch

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Having your setting to 100 megapixel is probably not so good. Set it to resize 3000 pixels on the long edge. That will allow a large enough file for a 20x30 print and keep your filesize down.

Thanks for the file size suggestion, I have tried to find image sizing suggestions to no avail. My original files are DNG, does SmugMug support the format? Also I've read a lot of users say to not resize images, but I'm working with 30MB files. I located a line of CSS sizing the image up to 100% of available space which was 700 pixels. I changed my image output to render 700 pixels instead of removing the CSS and the image looks great. Please let me know about file sizing as it seems like there are just too many possible combinations, really what is best?

    Kim,

I'm confused about a number of things in this post...I'm not sure why you want to set a separate publish service for a single gallery....why not just make "Originals" available in that gallery ?
Can you please link us to some posts on tumblr or other sites that are bad quality ?

Also, there is nothing wrong with the 100 megapixel setting...I would be keeping the original settings that you described.

    Cheers,

    Hi David,
I was considering setting up an alternative publish service because I figured that the image size being uploaded was not the actual original size and possibly why I was running into the lower image quality.
Here is a link on a test account, http://sultrygal.tumblr.com/post/62934163200/o
After changing the output to render at 700pixels the images look good enough, http://sultrygal.tumblr.com/post/63024407408/700-o-smaller-margins-standard-sharpening-glossy

On a different note, do you recommend I change the image format from JPG to DNG?

    Thanks much!!!

One more note, the image looks good enough to display but is there any way we can get it to look great? Sharper even? My originals are not soft at all, I just wonder if its at all possible. BTW I am creating a collage using the Print module in LR then printing to file, then manually uploading that image to my gallery on SM. Just wanted to make sure you had all the info.

    Huge Thanks!
