New smugmug: I'm lost

Hi,

I'm still on legacy and would like to convert/upgrade to the "new" sm. I've tried but I'm lost. My site is: http://photos.foto-biz.com

  1. I have started, I have made the home page with a big slideshow and a few menu items on the left. Each menu item points to a gallery. So far so good.
  2. When I do the preview, the main menu links to the gallery but not like I want. The galleries shows as simple thumbnails, instead of the collage.
How do I make each gallery with a collage landscape, like I have right now with Lamah's Turn your thumbnail galleries into a stunning image montage?

I have dozens of galleries, but most of them are unlisted, so I want to apply the new styles only to these few galleries. I have looked at: http://school.smugmug.com/SmugMug-Tips and I do not see it or understand.

Can somebody point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Thanks

Start by setting your site default style.

Customize... Customize site... click Settings button.
    Change the default style.
Choose Collage Landscape if that is the style you want by default.

If your galleries were locked into a style on legacy they will remain locked in that style until you change the style on the appearance tab of the gallery settings. You can either lock the galleries into a specific style or you can select "design default". If you select "design default" the galleries will change based on your setting of the default style.

You can edit gallery settings for multiple galleries at a time in the organizer. For bulk gallery settings see the help page at http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/1240194-new-bulk-gallery-settings.

    Hi Denise,

Thanks but... (the famous but) I previously did the collage like you said and the SM2 display the galleries as straight thumbnails.

How did you get the "Make this gallery custom"?

    Thanks

Make this gallery custom will apply customizations only to that gallery. That option appears when you open customization while you are in a gallery.

Did you check the viewing style in the gallery? If you had that set previously to something other than view selected the gallery will not use the site default; it will use the locked in gallery style. A gallery defined with a specific style will continue to use that style, not the default that you set for the site.

Did you change the style in the individual gallery settings? For example, in legacy my galleries were locked into smugmug style. That's how they came across in the new smugmug until I changed the style in the galleries. I changed it to Design's Default because if I change my mind about the default I want to be able to change without changing the individual galleries.
