Interesting project. It feels like a variation of the Humans of New York project. Is there an organizing theme like asking each person their favorite color, food, story, kind of food, etc.?

I like everything about these, except the faces look a bit distorted--would you ever consider using a longer lens?

I actually kind of like the distortion in these - there's something compelling about it that draws me in. Most of all, I really like the consistency of crops and the feeling of a "set" - what a neat concept thumb.gif

Thank you - I have no theme, I simply try to be as polite as I can be - it doesn't always work!

Correct and the 35mm 1.4 is perfectly suited for this!

Martin, I went to your Website to see the full set and read through your description of the processing. I like the finished look that you are getting and I look forward to trying the processing myself. You have created a consistent look for your 100 Strangers project. I know just enough about photography and composition to be dangerous so my opinion should be viewed in that light. When the project is finished, I think that some viewers will find that you have created a compelling collection of images with the unanswered questions of who all these people are and where they are going. Some viewers will see it as 100 illustrations for the book on why not to use a wide angle lens for portraits. I will keep looking back to your site to see it develop. Good luck and thank you for sharing the project and the processing.

    Hi Martin,

How's your 100 strangers project coming? Still active?

I just started "Humans of Nelson BC" based on the popular Humans of New York.

It's absolutely inspiring (and scary!) to take photos of strangers. :)

    Good luck!
