Private means no one but you will ever see them and only when logged in. Perhaps you mean "unlisted"?

    Equine Photographer,

There are differences between legacy and new SmugMug with regards to the privacy settings. You actually cannot set your privacy at the category or subcategory level in legacy SmugMug. In new SmugMug, you have the option to make folders, and their contents private, unlisted or public. You can also set a password at that level.

So, on legacy SmugMug, you need to make those settings at the gallery level. You can select all of the galleries within the category to apply them to.

In new SmugMug, you can change your folder settings in the site organizer, or find the Folder Settings link under the customize link on that page.

    I hope this helps!
