I think it means that I'm now officially an old man but no matter how beautiful a 20 something may be in a bikini or lingerie, my absolute favorite frames are invariably the CUs or headshots.

Diva, we didn't try for "sexy" in these but somehow it seems to be there.:wink

We did some fun work in our recent HogwArts, Harry Potter shoot but these images, at the tail end of the shoot, just about killed me half to death in PP.

Shot with my wonderful 70-200 f4L IS. No flash, no reflectors, no assistants, just me, Cyndi and Anylza.

Which has been EXACTLY MY POINT over the months. Bingo. Tada!

PS Lose #2 and 3 of Anylza - they look like they have motion blur (or something) and just aren't sharp ne_nau.gif

Plus 1 with Charles on the pullbacks. Old man or not, you take beautiful portraits. Thanks for sharing them.

    Thanks Hack and Eustace.

Hack, I don't have pullbacks on this set because there really is nothing to show. It really was just the three of us. No lights, no reflectors, All ambient light. The only pullback would be of me and my camera (a truly disturbing thought) taken by a person who wasn't there. Laughing.gif

Bryce, I don't have an OE beeper BUT my wife says I occasionally make weird noises and do pretty much everything backwards.

My favo 3 and 4.... and yes the ladies have a certain appeal, and that is good.

Now "old men", I can tell that you are young of mind and hart . That is what matters, I am 53 and still enjoy young and old people.

    OT
Here is my take on being older:

    1. Old men are like good wine, it just becomes better....(although some turn in to vinegar)

    2. The older you get the bigger the scope of beautiful women. (when you are 18, you don't look at a 30 year old lady; When you are 50, you look at 20-30-40 & 50 year women)
A photographer without a style, is like a pub without beer

Wow! Awesome work. The overall clarity and tones are amazing! The last three appeared a little off focus. I wish my pictures could come out like that!!!!

    Thanks 3 and FotoGirl

D3, Delbert McClinton gave me my best line about my age: "I ain't old but I been around a long time".

Foto, I shot these a bit soft intentionally so that ma be what you're seeing.

(didn't nkow where else to put this and it didn't really warrant its own thread, so forgive the semi-OT)

Bilsen, this piece kind of sums up my response to "typically sexy poses". Seriously - my brain just does NOT process that look as sexy, so to me all that Sports Illustrated kind of shots look like the guy versions of these. I just think.... HUH?! (I accept that 1. I'm not the demographic it's supposed to reach 2. I may just be particularly obtuse, but there we have it :D )

That's hysterical Diva. Considering the thread title it's not OT at all.

I am no longer demographically desirable either. Still, I wonder if they used Johnny Depp or Robert Downey Jr in those photos if the result would be different. After all, that ain't exactly Rosie O'Donnell on the woman's side.

Very nice images, but we all know you cannot get good background bokeh without an f2.8 lens.....

The 70-200 f4 IS L gets little mention or credit, but your work shows just how nice it can be to carry a smaller, lighter, cheaper 70-200mm lens.

That's funny and I have seen parodies of superheroes posed like super heroines on similar lines. The reverse can be true to in regards to poses that work for men but don't for women. In the end, it matters what the client wants. I've had some women who want cute, some want hot. I've had sessions where I concentrated on the not so sexy poses and threw in a few sexy shots for grins and giggles. The favorite shots end up being the sexy stuff.

Thanks Pathfinder. I LOVE that lens and since I shoot outdoors 90% of the time, I don't need the weight of the f2.8. I'm also lazy. Laughing.gif

jonH I get laughed at a lot cause I tell models to change their pose to cover the "Paris" but more often than not, they insist on the sexy stuff. Who am I to say no?

I had to sell my f4 (non is) to buy the 2.8is - I'm glad I have the latter, but I MIIISSS the former! Loved that lens (especially my wrists..... rolleyes1.gif)

I've used the 2.8 and it's terrific but really unnecessary weight (and cost) for what I do.
