I can't remember if I posted this before, but here it is again in honor of the season:

Gotta admit I got the idea from here, but I just like this shot. :D

An "accurate" reproduction of a scene and a good photograph are often two different things.

OK, I love this picture. I am thinking that my son-in-law and grandsons may need to try this. Did you use a trigger on the flash or was it just good timing?

Haha, thanks. There are two off-camera flashes directly opposite each other, triggered remotely. It took about 4 tries to get the timing of the shot with the smash (single shots, not continuous drive). If you only have one flash, or if you don't have a remote trigger, I bet you could rig something else up, like maybe car headlights.

I like the picture overall but the flash is a tad too much. I think it would be interesting to see results from different camera positions, more like the one from the inspiration pic.

Le moment decisive, you got it at the right team. Well done, and the light is ok for me . Yes it is a bt harsh , but then again he is smashing a pumpkin with lots of power.
If it was a beauty shoot it would not work (the hard light) . But here it does.
