I've been lurking here for a while, and putting pictures in my SmugMug account for a few years now, and thought it was about time I posted a few here. Lately I've been spending a lot of my free time at the San Diego Zoo, mostly with the tigers and other big cats. Until last week I was usually shooting with an old Nikon AF 300 f/4.0 ED-IF (the pre-AF-S one they discontinued about the same year I bought it - 1999), on a D7000. Just got an AF-S 300 2.8 VR II. The difference in the technology is amazing. I generally use a monopod, occasionally hand-held.

Here are a few shots of one of the Malayan Tigers from this past weekend. We had a short period of really excellent light on Sunday morning.

The light on Friday mid-afternoon wasn't quite as nice, but I always like watching this guy.

There are more on my blog, with links from there to the various SmugMug galleries with even more.
