Re forced perspective - obviously well used in the LOTR pics (amongst others) and the nearest I've ever got to any similar situation was when taking pics of this (and other models) recently.
The difference between (the pics of) this model and others not built to 1/12 scale was noticeable because of the horizon position relative to model size - but there's a limit to how low / close to to water level can be achieved when using a 500/f4 (without waterproof housing:))
One big factor that car model pics don't have to contend with tho - the fact that RW water droplet size can't be scaled
