World Archery Championships 2013
Earlier this year I was really, really lucky to get into the biggest competion I've ever seen. The archery World Champs in Turkey 2013. I shot in the recurve division, which explains why all my pictures are of compound shooters Coaches included there were 650 people at the event - not as big as the Vegas Shoot, but a fairly substantial group non the less.
1. Anne Lantee in the middle
2. Anne shooting in a wind that ended up getting nearly impossible to shoot in.
3. Pasquale Lebecque waiting her turn.
4. The French shooting style.
5. Colombian team looking a bit anxious
6. The Italian mixed team, um, warming up I guess
7. Mikko just after winning his first match
8. A re-shoot between Sigauskas and Gonzalez
9. Kristina Berger having fun in the Gold final
10. Ivana Buden aiming for the gold.
11. PJ Deloche releasing a shot.
Tell me what you think!
Thanks!

11 is awesome. Is the arrow flexing?
An "accurate" reproduction of a scene and a good photograph are often two different things.
Yes it is (archery is another passion of mine)
Love #11 was anyone there not shooting a Hoyt ?
Mikko there shoots a Mathews, which is also fairly common.
Thanks everyone for the comments!

The picture is barely showing how much flexing actually takes place. Recurve shooters use arrows that twist even more - the flex is put to use to help the fletching clear the arrow rest.

I am a hoyt guy , used to have a proshop and was a hoyt dealer .Unfortunately I have very little time for the sport these days .You have inspired me to try and capture an arrow coming of my 11 year olds bow
It's not all that difficult, a lot of light for short exposures, drive mode on high speed and then just several stabs at it. The most difficult part I've found is not running out of buffer before the archer actually shoots
