sub-directory for WP blog

With the legacy SM, I was using SM only for hosting my photos and the other website pages were hosted with my host vender outside of SM. With the new SM, I decide I'm going to do away with much of the self hosting and changed the DNS to go directly to mydomain.com rather than a sub-domain.
My question is, how do I keep a blog site (wp) while still using SM the primary domain?

I'm not sure how you host a WP site without having access to the file structure. I would think you still need your own hosting account. Even if you set your top-level domain to be the SmugMug site and make the blog a subdirectory, you still need some way to manage all the files - and SmugMug is not set up that way. At least I don't see how that would be done.

I'll be interested to hear what people have to say. I currently run SmugMug as the pictures.xxx.org part of my website, and I can't imagine flipping that.

    GRBlizz,
    Thanks for your reply.

Just as your setup, I too had SM host my photos in a sub-domain, gallery.domain.com. This was on the legacy SM. I self-hosted all my other pages with my hosting service.

But with the ease building menus, adding HTML pages, contact pages and such, I decided to make SM my top-level domain. Now my problem is that I lost the ability to access a sub-domain that I created for my bog. I get a SM Page Not Found error.

It seems I should be able to create a CNAME or A record to point back to the sub-domain name.

Any idea how this would be done?

But now that I made my top-level domain point to SM, I get a PAGE NOT FOUND error on any sub-domains I create. There should be some way to create a CNAME or A Record to point back to my sub-domain.

Of course, because SmugMug is not a web hosting solution. It offers the ability to create pages with complex directory structures, but it still doesn't offer the ability to directly access files or subdirectories outside of the SmugMug application.

I wonder if SmugMug is considering adding that capability? An integration with WordPress would be great.
