How collect works and the role of virtual galleries.

Hi all,
I have noticed that when I collect an image to a new gallery I do not get a copy of that image but some sort of virtual link.
Well I have noticed that after editing some images in the collected gallery and I was "surprised" to see that these changes were applied on the original image as well (I just wonder why the first time user is not getting informed about that).

a. Is there a way to make copies and send the copy directly to the new gallery?
b. Is the virtual gallery also a way to make copies or get links to image files I have?
c. I have a private gallery and then I collected from there some images that I would like to share with friends in an unlisted gallery. As I understand it now, that should not be possible as the collected photos still keep their private attributes. What would be a way to make the collected photos as shareable? I have done so much work editing those that would be a pity to do all the procedure from the beginning

I would like to thank you in advance for your help

Regards
Alex
P.S I still believe that the smugmug lacks of friendliness and clarity for first time users. Annoying.

    Hi Alex,

Can you please send us some links in an e-mail to help@smugmug.com so we can look into this situation?

part a and b would best be answered by seeing what you are seeing when you view the collected gallery. You should be seeing a copy of the image in the collected gallery.

Any time you make a change to the original image or the collected image it will change the other version too.

part c. You could make the original gallery unlisted and then make sure sharing is turned on and then you can share the collected gallery with friends.
