I agree with this. Technically these look great. If the tree was to be part of the pic, this is one instance where you put the family under the tree and take a really wide angle shot or bring them up some, use angle perception and let the tree and overhead branches frame the family.
You have great color in the sky and trees in the background but the tree trunk dominates.
Agree with the tree and branches - they should be the natural frame around the subjects, and not directly behind them. Great set though - I bet the family was very happy!
to be honest, I was using tree to cheat the sunlight. Now, that you everyone's mentioned that, I see that it was not the best idea.
Family is, indeed, happy.. Which is double good as the eldest person in the #2 is my boss.

There's ways to do it, bit it helps if the tree isn't directly behind them. If it is behind them then it's best to move them closer and the tree trunk is mostly the background and doesn't look like it is growing out of the back of them.
