Collecting Photos in New Smugmug

Wow... unless I am totally missing something, the act of "collecting photos" in the new Smugmug just totally sucks!

- You can only collect one at a time from a gallery view, and it doesn't remember where the last one went, so the effort required to collect 10 images is equal to 10 times the effort to collect one.

- You can go to Organize and view the gallery and collect images that way, but then the thumbnails are SO TINY that there is no way I can tell which ones to collect.

- I saw the recommendation for adding keywords and using smart galleries instead of collecting images. Great idea. Except... for some reason I cannot edit keywords on individual images in the gallery. I can see them, I can click the existing keywords, but I can't seem to find a way to add a new keyword on an individual image.

- So yeah, I could go to Organize and add keywords there, but the thumbnail in the Keywording screen, while larger than the thumbnail in the Organize screen, is still too small to really make decisions.

How is it November already and this hasn't been dealt with yet? Aren't the pros and power users screaming?

(or maybe I'm totally missing something in which case, please ... blast away) :)

I open the gallery in another tab and can view the large photo as I edit the keywords. Or use
another browser window for the gallery so the two windows can be put side by side.

I've had no problems editing/adding keywords for a smart gallery using bulk/edit in organizer.

Thanks. I will probably end up doing the same.

Of course, this is merely a work around... the "old" smugmug was clearly superior in this regard. With the ability to remember the destination so that you can simply collect the photos one at a time by clicking on them (on a large and easy to see version, I might add).

And in the mass collecting screen, you could hover your mouse over the thumbnail and it would show you a larger version of the image.

There's a hack you can do in order to bulk collect. I wish they'd make this a permanent tool. Here's the post that tells you how to restore bulk collecting.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I do a lot of bulk collecting. It's crazy they haven't done anything about this yet.

    I've been using this hack:
    picker.mg?tool=collect
    as written above.

I just discovered to my dismay that using this method will not work if you're trying to collect to a gallery made on the NEW site. They do no appear in the "Display in the following gallery" dropdown menu.

    Bummer...

Yeah, I ran into that... I was wondering if it was only me. Sad! :(

collecting photos in Legacy worked great, why break it?
I am also a big user of the Legacy collect and got no where with NEW. Why not try to implement the elegant too that existed in Legacy, I'm just adding my voice.
