You can easily move photos from one gallery to another in the Organizer. You can simply select the photos you would like to move, drag and drop them in the destination gallery
Thanks, but I was referring to creating while moving like before, not create first then move, because there are times we can just select bunch of pictures and decide to move, but to create a new gallery you actually have to get out of the current one and go level up before you an create a gallery.
Also there are bugs, I created a test folder and a page, now it is not letting me delete them, claiming "Ack!" it doesn't exist.
Additionally, when I create something in new gallery, it does not show up under same category in old smugmug, instead, it goes into "Smug Preview".
My smugmug still under construction & organization with 17,000 images and counting... meanwhile check my Flickr
Before you can move photos to a different gallery, you would need to make sure that the gallery already exists. If you've made a bigger selection of photos and found out that you hadn't created the gallery yet, you could consider using the drag to arrange option to move the selected photos to the beginning or end of the gallery. That way you could do an easy range selection after creating the gallery and wouldn't have to manually select photos from all over the source gallery again.
If you get errors in the organize site screen, it may be due to changes you've made in another browser window, tab or app. It could also be due to a temporary connection glitch, e.g. if you're on a cellular or wifi connection. Such issues usually can be resolved by closing the organize site screen and opening it fresh. If the issue persists, clear your browser cache, close and reopen your browser.

Creating a new gallery in the New SmugMug, the gallery will always show up in the Smug Preview category on Legacy SmugMug. That's because Legacy SmugMug doesn't offer the folder structure available on the New SmugMug. Note that this is mentioned in the "before I migrate, what can I expect" section of the migration help page. If you haven't read through the page yet, I highly recommend it.
