sub-folder

Struggling a bit here.

I have a top level folder with too many galleries, so I created a sub-folder and organised some of the galleries into that. It shows up fine in the customize this folder preview too. But, after publishing the top level folder the sub-folder is no longer visible.

Going to site organiser I can see the subfolder and the galleries it contains, but for some reason it does not show in the page view for the top level folder. And yes I did move the folder content box into the top level folder page.

Hope this makes sense, I am more than a little lost.

Sounds like you only have a "galleries" box on the page. Look under "content" "navigation" and add a
"folders" box to the page. In its "Select From" drop pick ""Current Location".

Thanks Allen, I managed to fix my issue with your tip - although I ended up creating a new folder on the same level as the first instead of subordinate as I had in mind. Maybe I need to separate the physical gallery organisation from the way I present it on the web. The physical organisation can be totally flat it seems, so no need for a tree structure unless you have hundreds of galleries which I don't.

I think the main trouble I have is in my own head in trying to understand the concepts. New Smugmug is super powerful and capable when you get on the right wavelength but I am not there yet. I had the same problem coming from Excel to Numbers.

Is there something written that explains the philosophy? All I can find is confusing blurb about how easy everything is - and I agree, once you have gotten it everything IS easy. I just didn't get it yet.
