Nice and I like 1 and 4 best. why is that it shows the person and the car. In two you do not know it is her car and in 3 she is too small relative to the car

Agree, she wanted to focus on the car and I, as her dad, wanted her. Guess who won that one.

I can't seem to figure out if she is super imposed on the picture of a car in #3 or if she is really that petite..
#2 is awesome! I'd love to know more details about it.

She is not that petite.......I was laying on the ground with a wide angle lens and the car is just a Corolla S. Don't remember which photo was #2 as the links seem broken but the data is still there when I hit edit.

looks like the images cannot be displayed. Either corrupt file or issue getting to it.
    http://hackbone.smugmug.com/photos/i-2vmvGbm/0/X2/i-2vmvGbm-X2.jpg - doesn't open, even as a direct link.

If #2 was the one standing and her legs crossed that was lit with a beauty dish off camera left and a 16-35 lens. She was about 8 feet in front of the car.

Did you expose for the sky on that shot? I love the contrast. it almost looks tone mapped

I find the exposure for the sky and then under expose about a stop and a half to bring in the rich colors then expose the subject normally......ex exposure 11 then set the camera 16 and light subject for that.

I like four the best of this set, but honestly, I've seen much better "car" portraits from you in the past with models that weren't even close to this pretty.

No offense meant, just my opinion.

For information purposes, why did you choose a beauty dish to light these instead of an octo or soft box? Was it the strength of sun you were competing with?

    Thanks for the comments all.

Bryce, I though this was some of my better work, oh well, back to the drawing board.....Laughing.gif.

In my humble opinion I think the beauty dish has a little more pop in general that a box. The light is more focused and not spread out and soft as a box produces.

These were in direct sunlight not shade so I opted for the dish, plus out in the open its a tad harder to tip over in the wind.
