Canon 70-200 non IS Autofocus Issues

Today I was doing a shoot (Canon 7D) and my autofocus drive on my Canon 70-200 non IS stopped working (no hunting, no movement at all). It was working fine and then just stopped. I recalled that my lens rolled out of my bag and hit the ground (maybe 6" drop) an hour earlier. Is it likely that I broke the motor drive? Any suggestions of checks I should do? Any idea how much such a repair could be?

Note: The AF drive works fine with my 17-55mm on my 7D.

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

Really stupid question: did the switch get moved to MF by mistake? I've had that happen before - total moment of panic before I realised............

    Divamum,
I checked that multiple times and the switch is correct.

Any sort of drop onto a hard surface can cause internal damage.

If you send the lens back to Canon they will give you an estimate in an e-mail before they attempt repairs.

If this is for the US, start the process by contacting Canon USA:

that should be checked as well but with the symptoms showing up right after dropping the lens .....
