I get an email saying I have a comment but when I go to the photo or gallery I don't see the comment unless I click on the comment icon - is there any way to change this so all comments are visible to me and visitors? They used to be visible on Legacy SmugMug ... I'm using Dina as my template ...

If you use SmugMug style in your gallery, the comments should show directly below the photo selected. On other gallery styles, you have to click on the comment button to see a comment. You could change the gallery style in any gallery via the customize > gallery style setting.
To change your design's default gallery style, you could do so in the customize > customize site screen via the settings button at the top.
