Reining?

Okay so I received a call from one of my employees asking if I would shoot some raining photos? I said, I think it was going to be sunny and clear.... Okay, well that was interesting. I always enjoy taking a photo or two of something I have never seen before.
Enjoy.... If you know anything about this event by all means tell me what one would have done to get a better photo I'm all ears. They would like me to come back to do it again?

The hardest part of getting a good photo was the limitation on where I could position myself.

Had to Google that :DReining is a series of precision movement for western style riding.

These are great looking photos! I especially like the sliding stops.

    Thanks Ian,
You did what I did after I was asked. It was actually kinda fun I found a judge and was able to ask questions for hours as the practice was going on. These photos were taken before the big event that happened in Las Vegas the following weekend. It is my understanding that the Pro's can slide the horses over 30 feet. Not sure how far they were going for me but it was pretty cool to watch at least once in your life.

There is something strange going on - on my SMUGMUG site there are ? everywhere where there were once photo galleries.

_R0D1188-X3.jpgThis photo kinda shows the spinning part of this event. Photo number 1 in the series also shows how the horse moves their feet one over the other. They spin fast enough to get you dizzy.

There are no photos in this post.

    But the spin is amazing.

Not exactly sure why but a lot of the people at the show liked number 4 also?

    - great sense of action from the moving dirt
    - horse's ears pricked
    - rider looks relaxed
    - good light on rider's face despite hat shadow
    - wide enough to give a little context; close enough to feel right in the action
