Sales Tax on my own purchases?

Hi, I'm was about to submit an order to purchase prints at base cost to sell in a physical gallery here in the state of Washington. My problem is I'll be responsible for paying the sales tax on the final sale when the items sell in the gallery, but the on-line cart is charging me sales tax on my purchase. That doesn't seem right - isn't there a way to tell the system that these items are for resale so I don't have to pay the tax?

    Hi Colleen,

I am very sorry but at the moment we do not have the option or possibility to remove sales tax from purchases on SmugMug. But you can claim this tax later - you will need to contact your tax adviser about this.

    I hope this helps!

That's because using SmugMug's services, you are not really running a business. You are essentially a sales rep selling SmugMug's products (ie. prints, merchandise etc.) SmugMug is the business and you are a commissioned sales employee and they aren't offering any employee discounts, even for taxes on items for resale. eek7.gif

Hope that helps clear that up for you.
