New vs Old SM

I paid to have my website [http://gallery.journeyzing.com] updated and improved several months before the new design was announced....I haven't done a thing other than I did do a temp preview and don't like it at all. But I haven't had time to really work with it. I know the day will come and the old site will go the way of history and we'll have to have the new templates up and running. I gather it's not a rush, but it is coming. So my Q is how can I best convert from the old to the new without alot of hassle, expense etc. I like the way I have mine = I don't like the Flickr approach of lots of images and no context, but then maybe I picked the wrong them.

If there are any suggestions as to how best to approach this and, hopefully, not spend yet more money to 'conform', that would be much appreciated.

Thanks. Victoria

Your site looks like it will be pretty straightforward to migrate.

You have a logo and navbar on every page.
That is done in new smug by adding logo and menu content elements to "entire site".

You have a slideshow on your homepage.
You can place a slideshow content element on "homepage".

You can create a drop-down menu without any code. See the section titled "Create a Nested (drop down) menu bar" on the help page at http://help.smugmug.com/customer/portal/articles/1222523-customization-navigation-menu.

For your galleries page you can either create a page and select the folders (what in legacy was categories / subcategories) to show on that page or you can use the default /browse page. If you look at my site my "gallery" menu entry goes to a page that contains a selected set of folders.

Your biography would be a page that contains a text content element (or an HTML content element).

Your contact page can either use the standard smugmug contact form or a wufoo form of your creation.
