Can't add social account ...

Hello,

searching internet as a mad guy, can't find a satisfactory explanation. What I am trying to do in the end, is to add Like button to the bottom of the SM page, and I need to link it to our FB page, where we already have cca 800 fans.

What I am able to get is the help for old SM. I tried to go into my profile and Discovery/Manage social accounts, but all I get is the message, that I have not added any social page yet. But how should I do it? The itnerface does not offer any button there, just the close button to the dialog box.

Please help :-)

To add a like button for your SmugMug site, just go to the customize > customize site screen and from the customize drawer on the side, select the section you'd like to customize. You'll find the "share buttons" content block in the content > social section.
Keep in mind that a like button is always for the current site you're on and it's not possible to add a like button for another site on SmugMug. What you can do, is add a social icon that links to your Facebook page. That's done via the "social icons" content block available from the same social section as the "share buttons".

Here's a thread Lamah pointed out to me. It shows how to create a custom Like button that will Like a particular page.

Yes, what i wanted to do, is to add the like button, which will in fact like our FB profile, as that is the marketing communication channel for us. So you say it is not possible?

Btw - what I was also referring to, did not get answered, or I don't understand the topic correctly - in the Account settings/Discovery/Social, there is a button to "Manage accounts". What is this functionality supposed to do? All I get is the dialog box stating, that no 3rd party accounts are associated with our SM page, as can be seen in the attached picture ...

Darter, thanks, good "hack", was worried about how to get the JS code in-there :-)

I'm not aware of any official way to add such a like button for other pages.

That manage accounts screen is largely in place to allow you to remove a Facebook account that you have used to log in to your SmugMug site. At this point, I don't think it serves any other purpose and you can mostly ignore it. It's normal that you cannot perform any actions within it unless you currently use Facebook to login to SmugMug.
