Green Winged Teal Duck
Yesterday I managed to get a shot of this Green Winged Teal duck which arrived on our reserve over a week ago. I have made some enquiries and I believe these are in very large numbers in the N. America as Mallard ducks are over here in the UK.
This one must have been blown off course and arrived here in south west Scotland. It is identical to our Teal ducks but this one can be identified by the vertical white stripe on each side of its breast. It was quite a long way off and certainly not easy to pick out amongst hundreds of other Teals on the reserve. It has certainly attracted a lot of bird watchers.
C&C always welcome.
