An "accurate" reproduction of a scene and a good photograph are often two different things.

Looks like a lot of fun! The only comment I have is that the lighting looks unnatural-five is the better looking shot as far as strobes go.

Thanks. Although I wasn't going for natural, I was going for dramatic. I don't do this style often, perhaps you have a link to some better strobed action shots?

Pinkbike and go to the photo section.

    Ian Hylands

Pinkbike will give you a variety of different pictures by a lot of different photographers.

This showed up in this morning's feed. It's an interview with Erik Holperl. There are some pretty good pictures included. Maybe not strobist style but definitely dramatic.

For Young Kids - I love Them
Photos of kids having fun - I think they are great!

If you would give a little detail on setup and execution, would appreciate.

    Thanks

Thanks Phil, just a Canon speed light on a tripod to the right, triggered by a Canon ST-E2. It was an overcast day and there is a lot of tree coverage there, so I had to go to ISO 1600 to get my desired settings of 1/1000, f/5.6. Canon 5D3, 17-40L. There is a tree blocking my view of the approach, so I used one-shot AF, and pre-focused. Although for a few shots I didn't have time to do that, so I just mashed the shutter button all the way down, and the 5D3 still nailed it. Pretty deep DOF though, so not too surprising.

Thanks much. I have five grandkids. None are old enough yet for these kinds of events, but getting close. So, I look forward to capturing them doing these kinds of things as well you did!
