New site doesn't work on Android browsers

I just 'unveiled' my "new technology" SM site. I didn't do any special customization - just used one of the standard themes. It works well on Windows and iPad browsers, but doesn't work well on Androids. On my phone (Android 2.5) all it shows is the left-hand menu bar. On a friend's phone (Android 4) the boxes are distorted.

Did I choose a "mobile non-compliant" theme?

Working perfectly here, Google Nexus 5 using Chrome browser.

PS: Android 2.5? That's years old, isn't it?

Yes, a couple of years old - on my HTC Desire S phone. HTC doesn't recommend upgrading the Android version, but I've seen instructions for upgrading to Android 3. Android 4 apparently works slowly on the single processor hardware I have.

The menu now works well on my mobile and the images resize very well, but the contact box doesn't resize. Here is a shot that a friend sent me (Asus Padphone 2 running Android 4.1.1)

You can't expect SM to work on a years-old version of Android for mobile. Time to upgrade! (Everyone else is....)
