How do I show galleries in a timeline or non-grouped

Galleries show grouped by category. Is there a way to enable a block of galleries and have them sort without this grouping? I would ideally like to show them in the order they were taken by date the gallery was created.

You could create a page and select the galleries in the order in which you'd like to see them. That may be a reasonable solution if you don't have a lot of galleries.

There is a "recent galleries" selection if you place a galleries box on a page. That looks like it shows your recently updated galleries in a sequence starting with the most recently updated. Would this work for you?

That is what I feared. Thank you for the reply. I think I'm going to need to bite the bullet and arrange the galleries in the order I want by hand.

As a tip, if you have multiple galleries selected, to reselect the galleries in a different order, you could also use the "selected" button in the upper right of the "choose gallery" screen. That should give you a list of all your selected galleries and you could deselect all galleries and then reselect them in your desired order. That way you wouldn't have to browse through your whole site to locate all the galleries again.

Note that the "galleries I choose" option is limited to 48 galleries.
