Site Organization Question

I have now reached the point where I want to deploy some content upgrade. My question centers on site content design.

Specifically:

The site will contain multiple pages.
Each page will contain one or more galleries.
Each page will contain a text block.
Each page will contain a slide show.

The area that I would like advice on concerns the galleries. For each gallery placed on a page, I want to navigate back to the page I'm on from the gallery. I do not want to have navigation within the gallery back to a gallery folder etc.

I'm ok with the text block and slide show in the above.

Thanks,

DarkRock

The navigation back to your page, is something you would need to manually add to each gallery. To customize just an individual gallery, you could go to the gallery in question and in the customize > customize site screen, look at the customize drawer on the side. There you'll find the "make this gallery custom" option. Clicking on that would allow you to make changes to just that gallery.

Note that a custom gallery would no longer use the "all galleries" section of your site. So any changes you apply to "all galleries", wouldn't apply to custom galleries. In addition, you'd need to customize each "custom gallery" individually. You can't copy settings or content blocks from one custom gallery to another. Therefore, I'd recommend that you use the "custom gallery" option only on galleries you absolutely need it for. Especially going forward, if you ever decide to make a change to your custom galleries, you'd need to make that same change on each individual custom gallery. There's no bulk option.

If you have further questions, I would suggest that you also include a link to your site or the specific page you're referring to.

Thanks for the response Sebastian. One additional follow on question.

So, once I have set the gallery to gallery custom option, then to add navigation back to the page, I would remove the breadcrumb section and add a simple menu with the url of page, correct?

    Thanks Again,

    Hi Tim,
Yes, the breadcrumb includes the navigation to the folder the gallery is in. If you don't want that to show, you could remove the breadcrumb content block. The menu content block would allow you to set up links to any place you'd like, so that should be suited best for your purposes.

When you make a gallery "Just this gallery" and add a CSS block all the "all galleries" CSS appears in the "Just this gallery" CSS block.
I delete it all and only add CSS to the "Just this gallery" block for this specific gallery. It will override any "all galleries" CSS which
    does apply.

But in your case I see no reason to make the gallery "Just this gallery" unless you want to
remove the breadcrumb specifically for this gallery.
A gallery has a description box so you can add the path link back to the "from" page there.
