Removing comment box but not the comment option

Hi,
in smugmug style galleries, how do I get rid of the comment boxes but still make comments possibele via a button like in the journal style?
I have seen this CSS snippet to get rid of the comment boxes, but that disables comments completely:
That big fat comment entry box is a bit too prominent and ugly to be displayed permanently...
