You must read the OOYCZ Challenges Guide found HERE, before starting this challenge.:deal
The OOYCZ Challenge #1 theme will be Still Life. For the purpose of this theme, Still Life for this challenge will look like the old master paintings of years ago, not like product advertising or outdoor images of drift wood and such. All images must be taken indoors and you will have to collect and set up your items for the image.
These are examples of the type of still life we are looking for:
1. Flowers and Pears
2. Milk and Bread with audience
3. Shoes and Polish

Keep lighting, texture, color, backgrounds and subject compositions in mind for this shoot. Do not worry if you do not have a studio in your home. There are many ways to set up for doing still life even if you do not have studio lights.
Here are some tutorials to help you:
10 Tips to Get Started with Still Life Photography
5 tips to still life photography
There are many more. Just do a search on it.
These next two weeks are the learning phase of the Challenge, so please do your homework and start your own personal thread with your results of your trials and for help if needed or even showing others you know how to do this if that is the case. Giving tips to help others is a plus in this exercise of challenging. As well as constructive critiques.
This Phase 1 will go for 2 weeks. So on December 15th at 8pm Pacific time, I will put up phase 2, which will be the entry thread.
Remember that these challenges are to take you out of your comfort zone. Which means, even if you like to shoot wildlife, landscapes, people or something other than still life, please give this a try and see how well you can do. It won't hurt and maybe you might find it fun and rewarding!
